Korlantas Actions Over Dimensional Trucks To Operate To Prevent Road Damage

JAKARTA - The Traffic Police Corps is ready to take firm action against over-dimensional and more loaded trucks that cross the road because it causes road conditions to be more damaged and prone to accidents.

Head of Korlantas Brigadier General Agus Suryo Nugroho said his party had collaborated and socialized the phenomenon of this overloaded and over-dimensional vehicle passing on the highway.

"We will take firm action on overloaded and over-dimensional trucks which are one of the causes of road damage. What is clear is that the state is here to ensure that the road can provide comfort and roads, not to cause accidents," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 7.

According to him, the damage factor for the north coast road is not only due to the main factors of high rainfall intensity and road conditions that are already time to be repaired with the presence of trucks loaded with more goods (overloads) and over dimensions.

Vehicle overload, he said, was clearly a traffic violation because the truck was carrying more goods.

"Similarly, over-dimension is a traffic crime because vehicle owners deliberately extend dimensions so that they automatically cause more cargo," he said.

According to him, his party together with the Director of Jasa Raharja conducted a survey from Jakarta by crossing the toll road and the national route pantura road, which are now in quite severe condition.

"Untuk kondisi (jalan) tol cukup bagus meski ada sejumlah yang masih rusak. Kemudian, kami masuk ke pantura dari Semarang menjalani jalur jalan nasional hingga Kabupaten Batang yang kini cukup memburuk, banyak jalan perluang," katanya.

Brigadier General Agus said that with the condition of the road that was badly damaged, it would affect the flow of traffic in the Ketupat Candi Operation 2025 when one way was implemented on national roads.

"So, if the road is still like this (holes) it will be very vulnerable, namely slowing down traffic flow and prone to accidents. Therefore, later at certain meetings we will convey to stakeholders to be repaired immediately," he said.
