Ministry Of Agriculture Says Padi Seed Stock In February 2025 Is 14,000 Tons Available
JAKARTA - Director of Food Crops at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) of the Republic of Indonesia Gunawan SP stated that the stock of rice seeds for the use of people and farmers throughout Indonesia in February 2025 was available at 14,000 tons.
"This morning's data on total seeds for February is available at around 14,000 tons, meaning that it can be used for the supply of almost 900 thousand to one million hectares of land," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 7.
He said the calculation was based on the average seed requirement of around 25 kilograms per hectare of land.
The available rice seed variations also vary according to the current community of farmers.
"Of course the top 10 varieties favored by the community or farmers, such as the Inpari variety 32, Inpari 42, as well as the Mekongga variety, Ciherang still dominates related to this superior seed variety," he said.
He said, for this variety, it was indeed the ordering and preparation of the producer on the basis of the demand of the farmer community, but the Ministry of Agriculture also introduced new superior varieties that should be introduced to farmers.
"This is to anticipate that if a certain phase of phase occurs when production has decreased, it means that the use of varieties must be carried out, that is what we introduce with new, short-lived superior varieties," he said.
However, he said, when it comes to the provision of seed stocks, his daily period reports to the leadership of the ministry to provide seed stocks in each location, or each province per variety and per producer.
"So, to prepare rice seeds for the territory of Indonesia, God willing, it is safe related to the provision of seeds," he said.
