KKB Supplier Paniel Kogoya Buys Firearms Of Rp1.1 Billion, The Money Is The Result Of Extorting Residents

JAKARTA - Paniel Kogoya (41), a suspected gun supplier to the Nduga armed criminal group (KKB) in Intan Jaya, Papua spent Rp1.1 billion to buy four firearms.

Funds to buy firearms were obtained from Ges Gwijangge, a member of the Egianus Kogoya group, which came from looting, robbery and extortion of tribal chiefs and village funds.

"Each village is forced to deposit Rp1 billion per village or village," said Head of the Nemangkawi Public Relations Task Force, Kombes Iqbal Alqudusy, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, April 20.

He explained that the Rp1.1 billion fund was used to buy two SS1 and M16 firearms each.

After receiving a firearm, Kogoya will hand it over to Ges Gwijangge, whom he has known since 2018.

"The firearm came from the convict, Didy Chandra Warobay, currently in Nabire prison," said Iqbal, adding that Paniel Kogoya had been arrested on Sunday, April 18 in Nabire.

Paniel Kogoya who is detained in Nabire will be subject to Article 1 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code with the threat of a sentence of 10 years in prison.

Egianus Kogoya is one of the KKB leaders in Papua, whose operational area is around Nduga Regency.
