As A Result Of The Dipangkas Budget, The Ministry Of Public Works Only Builds A 13 Kilometer Toll Road This Year

JAKARTA - The Prabowo Subianto government will only build a 13-kilometer express road or toll road this year.

This is the impact of the budget of the Ministry of Public Works (PU) which was cut significantly to reach Rp81.38 trillion.

"The DIPA Ministry of Public Works ceiling, which was originally Rp110.95 trillion, has been utilized at Rp81.38 trillion, so that the remaining total ceiling after efficiency is Rp29.57 trillion," said PU Minister Dody Hanggodo in a Working Meeting with Commission V DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, February 6.

Of the total indicative ceiling of the Ministry of Public Works worth Rp29.57 trillion, the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Highways only received a budget allocation of Rp12.48 trillion.

One of them will be used to build a 13-kilometer toll road.

Next, the 2025 budget will also be used to support the construction of 63 kilometers of new roads and capacity building and an increase of 342 kilometers.

Then, it will also be used to support the construction of duplication of a 1,096 meter long bridge and the construction of a 242 meter flyover or underpass.

Due to the lack of budget for the Directorate General of Highways to support connectivity development, the Ministry of Public Works has eliminated routine preservation costs for roads and bridges.

This then received the spotlight from a member of Commission V DPR RI. One of them is Adian Napitupulu from the PDIP faction. He said that the Ministry of Public Works's infrastructure budget that was so large was very unreasonable.

"We really have to agree with this, right? Because it doesn't make sense to only build 63 kilometers of roads. One year we want to build what?" he said.

He assessed that cutting the budget to reach Rp. 81 trillion would have a major impact on all sectors.

Adian also mentioned the government's plan to achieve self-sufficiency in food amid the lack of budget allocations for the construction of irrigation areas.

"For example, we talk (Directorate General) of Natural Resources Rp10.7 trillion (the budget), we continue to talk about food security. Meanwhile, the rehabilitation of irrigation networks is only 16,000 hectares out of a large number. It will not be achieved," said Adian.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto issued presidential instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2025 concerning Expenditure Efficiency in the Implementation of the 2025 APBN and APBD.

Through these instructions, the government is now making a massive budget cuts to the state budget this year.

One of those affected by the budget cuts was the Ministry of Public Works. It is known that the Ministry of Public Works' budget was cut by 73 percent of this year's budget ceiling.

When viewed from the 2025 Ministry of Public Works budget ceiling which amounted to IDR 110.95 trillion, the state institution's budget was affected by an efficiency of IDR 81.38 trillion.

With this efficiency, the remaining budget of the Ministry of Public Works is only IDR 29.57 trillion for this year.
