Russian Troops Thwart Ukraine's Counterattack With Armored Vehicles In Kursk
JAKARTA - Russia's Ministry of Defense said Ukrainian forces tried to counterattack on Thursday in Russia's western Kursk region. Russia claims the attack was thwarted by Russian forces.
As reported by Reuters on Thursday, February 6, the Russian Ministry of Defense said Ukrainian troops and armored vehicles launched several waves of attacks near the villages of Ulanok and Cherkaskaya Konopelka.
But they were successfully beaten back and the settlement was under Russian control.
Reuters was unable to independently confirm reports of the battlefield.
But the fact that Ukrainian forces are still able to launch a significant attack on the Kursk region highlights the tough challenges Russia faces to expel them six months after the Ukrainian military broke through the border to seize parts of Russia last year.
