Cambuk Prosecutor 5 Convicted Of Online Gambling At Teuku Umar Square, West Aceh

WEST ACEH - The West Aceh District Attorney carried out the execution of caning of five people convicted of online gambling which took place at Teuku Umar Meulaboh Field, the local district capital, today.

Quoted from Antara, Thursday, January 6, the five were Marwan (27), a resident of Tumpok Ladang Village, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency with qubat ta'zir caning eight times from a total sentence of 10 lashes.

The sentence against Marwan was reduced twice based on the provisions of Article 18 of Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning the Law of the Jinayat Event, which states that for a maximum detention of 39 days, the caning is reduced.

Then Rian Amanda (23), a resident of Meureubo Village, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency, was sentenced to six lashes. Convict Rian Amanda has been in detention for 98 days, so that the sentence of caning the convict is reduced by four days.

Zulkifli (27), a resident of Pasi Teungoh Village/Gampong, Kaway XVI District, West Aceh Regency, who has served eight lashes. Uqubat whipd Zulkifli was reduced twice because he had been detained for 39 days.

The convict Munawir (30), a resident from Gintong Village, Grong-Grong District, Pidie Regency, Aceh, has served six lashes of a total sentence of 10 lashes.

He received a reduced caning for serving 98 days in prison, so that the number of canings against him was reduced four times.

Then the convict Maidin (37), a resident of Tumpok Ladang Village, Kaway XVI District, West Aceh Regency, was sentenced to eight lashes from the total caning imposed by the panel of judges 10 times.

He received a reduction in caning as many times as he had served 39 days in prison.

Head of the General Crime Section of the West Aceh District Attorney's Office, Darma Mustika accompanied by Head of Intelligence Ahmad Luthfi told reporters that the execution of the caning was in accordance with the decision of the West Aceh Regency Syar'iyah Court which had permanent legal force.

The five convicts were cursed in accordance with Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning Jinayat Law, because they were proven to have committed a criminal act of juxtaposing or gambling.

Kasi Pidum Darma Mustika said that so far the execution of the caning that has been carried out in West Aceh Regency has been dominated by online gambling or online gambling cases.

After serving the sentence of caning, the five defendants were declared free and handed over to each family.
