Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Praises President Trump's Plan On Gaza: Create A Different Future

JAKARTA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised United States President Donald Trump's plans for the Gaza Strip, Palestine, saying it would create a different future for everyone.

President Trump and PM Netanyahu met at the White House, Washington DC on Tuesday. On that occasion, President Trump expressed his proposal to permanent transfer of Palestinians to Gaza.

He also said that Uncle Sam's country wanted to take over Gaza and then rebuild the Palestinian enclave.

The day after, PM Netanyahu supported the plan and called it "extraordinary."

"This is the first good idea I've ever heard of," PM Netanyahu said in an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity, quoted by The Times of Israel on February 6.

"This is an extraordinary idea. And I think it should be examined, pursued and done because I think it will create a different future for everyone."

President Trump also did not rule out the possibility of deploying the military to Gaza if deemed necessary.

Later, White House press secretary Krypto Leavitt told reporters President Trump believed the United States needed to engage in the rebuilding of Gaza "to ensure stability in the region."

"That doesn't mean the army should set foot in Gaza," he said.

Leavitt also said President Trump wanted to see Palestinians living in Gaza "temporary relocation" so the enclave could be rebuilt.

Earlier, President Trump on Tuesday called for permanent transfer of Palestinians from Gaza, which drew global condemnation. Leavitt did not elaborate on the rhetoric shift.
