Alphonso Davies Extends Contract With Bayern Munich Amid Real Madrid Interests
Alphonso Davies has approved a new contract at Bayern Munich on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, local time. The news ended Real Madrid's long-term pursuit of the player.
Davies' contract with the Bavarian giant is valid until the end of the 2029/2030 season and will keep him there for up to 11 years if he completes his contract.
"I am very happy to have extended my contract at this great club. I came to FC Bayern when I was 18 years old."
"I just want to learn as much as possible every day to be one of the best in my position."
"Now I'm looking forward to five more years together. I've achieved a lot here, but much more is coming," Davies said.

Last summer, Real Madrid wanted to sign the Canadian international - whose previous contract would expire in June 2025 - if an agreement on costs could be reached with Bayern Munich.
When that step did not materialize, Los Blancos remained enthusiastic about signing Davies on a free transfer this summer as part of a defense reshuffle.
However, Bayern Munich continues to press for Davies to stay, offering a better contract extension.
"Alphonso Davies has become one of the best players in the world in his position at Bayern Munich and has attracted a lot of interest."
"The fact that he wants to continue with us here shows Bayern Munich's status in international football and that Alphonso has found his home in Munich," said Bundesliga club Sports Director Christoph Freund.
Davies was still considering his choice last month, before finally choosing to stay with FC Hollywood.
He has made 16 appearances for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season under coach Vincent Kompany, scoring one goal as the team is at the top of the league standings.
He joined Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019. Since then, Davies has become one of the highest-ranked left-wing players in the world of football.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid is working to increase strength at left-backs, with doubts over the two options, Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.
The La Liga giant has had the habit of recruiting elite players with free transfer status in recent seasons, including Kylian Mbappe in 2024, Antonio Rudiger in 2022, and David Alaba in 2021.
Apart from Davies, Real Madrid also had time to target Liverpool's right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, to fill Dani Carvajal's post with a long injury.
Meski The Reds belum mencapai kesepakatan dengan Alexander-Arnold soal perpanjangan kontrak--yang akan terhabis pada akhir musim ini--Los Blancos sudah menyerah berburu pemain Tim Nasional Inggris itu.
