Profile Of Ahmad Ali, NasDem Politician Who Is Suspected Of Being Involved In A Corruption Case

YOGYAKARTA Profile of Ahmad Ali is in the spotlight because the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a search at his home on Tuesday, February 4. The search for the KPK at Ali's house in West Jakarta is related to the case that also ensnared the former Kutai Kartanegara Regent Rita Widyasari.

Ahmad Ali was born on May 16, 1969 in Wosu, Morowali, Central Sulawesi. His education was mostly pursued in Central Sulawesi. In 1993, Ali continued his undergraduate education at Tadaluko University (UNTAD), Palu City, Central Sulawesi.

Reporting from the official website of the NasDem Faction, Ali has an interest in the organization. When he was a student, namely in 1998, he was one of the administrators of the Palu branch of the Islamic Student Association. He was also part of the Central Sulawesi branch of Pancasila Youth (1999).

Although active in the organization, Ali did not necessarily enter the world of politics but went to business. In 2005, Ali had occupied important positions in several companies, namely PT Graha Mining Utama, PT Graha Agro Utama, PT Graha Istika Utama, and PT Tadulako Dirgantara Travel.

Ali also briefly became a member of the management of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) of Central Sulawesi Province. From this Kadin Ali then plunged into politics.

Initially, Ahmad Ali joined the Patriot Party. In 2009, he ran for DPRD member Kab. Morowali. As a result, he managed to get a seat for the 2009-2040 period. Not long after in the Patriot Party, Ali finally joined the NasDem Party in 2013.

Ahmad Ali's career in the NasDem Party was quite successful. A year of joining, Ali immediately represented the party chaired by Surya Paloh as a candidate for DPR RI member of the Central Sulawesi electoral district in the 2014 election. The result was also satisfactory, Ali managed to get 109,021 votes and managed to walk to Senayan for the 2014-2019 term of office.

In the 2019 election, his candidacy again bore fruit. Ali returned to his position as Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2019 '2024 period.

Not only in Senayan, Ali also won confidence in NasDem. Some of the party positions that have been held are the Chairman of the DPW of the Central Sulawesi NasDem Party (2013'2018), the General Treasurer of the NasDem Party (2017'2019), and the Deputy Chairperson of the 2019-2024 NasDem Party.

The search of the house of politician Ahmad Ali was carried out by the KPK regarding the alleged gratification case. The case previously ensnared former Kutai Kartanegara Regent Rita Widyasari (RW) as a suspect.

KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika explained that the case related to the search was gratification. Unfortunately, no details have been conveyed by the KPK.

During the search, the KPK brought several items such as documentary evidence as well as electronic evidence, money, bags, and hours.
