Defense Minister Sjafrie: Members Of The TNI Who Violate The Law Will Be Faced With Militar And General Criminal Processes
JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin emphasized that members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) who violate the law will face criminal proceedings, both in military courts and general justices.
"So, we are not playing games in dealing with violations of the law committed by unscrupulous persons. That is never allowed," said Sjafrie at the Commission I Working Meeting of the DPR RI at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 4.
He emphasized that every soldier who is proven to have violated the law will be subject to sanctions in accordance with the rules in force in Indonesia.
In addition, Sjafrie reminded that members of the TNI who are caught in legal cases are at risk of being dismissed from service.
"Usually those who are fired will find it difficult to find a place outside. This is an important note. Be careful of those who violate the law, because they can be dismissed. For example, cases of disorder and insubordinates," he said.
In the same meeting, Member of Commission I DPR RI Jazuli Juwaini highlighted the involvement of TNI members in serious crimes, including murder cases.
"This must be a serious concern. Wherever, in any institution, there must be an individual who does wrong. As long as there is a demon, there are always people who are damaged," said Jazuli.

He added that a stricter monitoring and coaching system was needed to prevent the recurrence of crimes by TNI personnel.
"How can this TNI control and coaching system be more effective? Because if it keeps repeating itself, it can tarnish the authority of the institution," he said.
