The Impact Of The Neil Gaiman Case, The Sandman Series Is Completed In Season Two

JAKARTA - The Sandman series adapted from Neil Gaiman's book will end in a second season. This is different from the original plan for which Netflix plans several parts for the series.

Showrunner Allan Heinberg discussed plans to adapt the entire book content to the following few seasons.

The Sandman series is always focused on Dream stories and in 2022, when we look at Dream material from comics, we know we have a lot of stories for one more season, said Allan Heinberg.

"We thank Netflix for bringing the team back and giving it time to make an adaptation that is expected to surprise readers of the comic as well as fans of our series," he said.

The plan to release the second season has no impact from cancellation and will still be released this year according to the original plan. However, the other The Sandman stories will no longer be adapted and completed in the second season.

The cancellation of this series relates to Neil Gaiman who was sued for sexual harassment by five women. Gaiman denied all allegations and withdrew from the adaptation production of the Good Omens series.

After that, the comic publisher Dark Horse who worked on Gaiman's comic also ended his contract and collaboration.

'Dark Horse takes Neil Gaiman's accusations seriously and we don't publish his work. Anansi Boys Comic was also canceled," said Dark Horse.

Neil Gaiman also denied all allegations and said some of the stories that were told were fake and never happened.

In addition, Gaiman is also in the process of divorcing Amanda Palmer who made a response via social media. Palmer wrote, "Because there are cases of divorce and custody, I can't comment yet. Please understand because I am a parent. I ask for privacy at this time."
