Hamas Submits List Of 25 Names Of Surviving Israeli Citizens, Immediately Released

JAKARTA - The Palestinian Islamic Group Hamas handed over a list of 25 surviving Israeli hostages, of the 33 hostages scheduled to be released.

Reported by Reuters on Monday, January 27, Hamas said Israel had received the list from the mediator of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

As previously reported, Palestinian militant group Hamas will hand over Israeli female hostages Arbel Badminton and two other hostages before Friday this week.

Qatar's Foreign Ministry, as a mediator, also said Israel would in return allow Palestinian refugees to return to northern Gaza from Monday morning.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Sunday, January 26, civilians Arbel Badam, Agam Berger soldiers and other hostages will be released by Hamas.

He also said in a post on X, Israel would allow Gaza refugee families to return home in the northern Palestinian region from Monday morning.

"The Prime Minister reiterated that Israel will not tolerate any violations of the agreement. We will continue to act for the return of all of our hostages, both those who are alive and those who have died," Netanyahu's office said.

Following Qatar's announcement, Hamas said it was handing over to the relevant information mediators regarding the list of Israeli hostages to be released during the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

The move, brokered by Qatari and Egypt mediators, will allow some 650,000 Palestinians displaced in the central and southern Gaza Strip to return to their homes north of the region, most of whom have been displaced by Israeli air and ground attacks for 15 months.

Cars, trucks, and rickshaws are full of mattresses, food, and tents that serve as shelter for more than a year for people in the central and southern regions of the bag.

Under the agreement reached with Egyptian and Qatar mediators and supported by the US, Israel is meant to allow Palestinians displaced from the north to return to their homes.

But Israel says Hamas failed to hand over a list of hostages scheduled to be released who were alive or handed over Arbel Badminton, an Israeli woman held hostage from her home in kebbutz during a Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
