The patent application does not specify what engine will be embedded with the system. It will likely use a 2.5 liter or smaller engine configuration.

It was stated that the first model of Mazda to get the fit was the latest generation CX-5 to replace the current model entering the age of almost a decade.

This continues the previous news that Mazda is working on more innovations for the latest self-charging hybrid powertrain for the CX-5. Reportedly, Mazda will also launch its new SUV with its newest Skyactiv-Z engine which is expected to replace the Skyactiv-G and Skyactiv-X units currently in use.

The purpose of the manufacturer to update its engine is to offer better improvements in thermal efficiency and combustion than before.

It is estimated that the third generation of Mazda CX-5 will debut for the first time this year and will be launched into the global market one year later.
