IPhone 17 Pro: Seven New Features Coming This Year
JAKARTA - The year 2025 will be a big year for the iPhone, with an interesting iPhone SE 4 launch in the spring and super thin iPhone 17 Air in the fall. However, what about Apple's flagship Pro model?
Here are seven new features that will be coming to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max in September.
Every year, iPhone cameras continue to increase, but usually Apple's big focus is on rear cameras. For the entire iPhone 17, Apple will upgrade the front camera from the 12MP sensor to 24MP, bringing a huge improvement in selfie quality. This is a big step for the front camera to approach the quality of the iPhone's rear camera.
Apple is again presenting a new series A chip for the latest iPhone. This year, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will be equipped with the A19 Pro chip, the most advanced chip Apple has ever made. However, the iPhone 17 Air model and the standard will only use the regular A19 chip.
The presence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology makes RAM an important element in Apple devices. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will be equipped with 12GB RAM, an increase of 50% from 8GB on the iPhone 16 Pro. Other models, such as the iPhone 17 and 17 Air, are still limited to 8GB RAM.
Apple has long developed its own modems for 5G and Wi-Fi. This year, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will use Apple's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combination chips. However, only the iPhone 17 Air will get a 5G modem made by Apple, while the Pro model will still use Qualcomm modem for higher performance.
Like last year's Pro model, Apple again highlighted the Pro line lead for photography needs. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will have a larger rectangular camera bulge, likely to support new features.
The top of the Pro model is also rumored to use a full aluminum design, while the bottom remains glassy to support wireless charging.

The list of new features on the iPhone 17 Pro shows that the decision to buy this year will be more difficult than ever. Although the iPhone 17 Air with its super thin design sounds attractive, it may be too much compromise Pro users have to make to switch.
