Minister Erick: Launch Of Danantara Waiting For The SOE Bill To Be Issued
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir admitted that he could not confirm when the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) would be inaugurated.
Erick said that the establishment of this institution depended on the completion of the BUMN draft law (RUU).
"Like that, we'll just have to wait," said Erick when met at the BUMN Ministry Office, Jakarta, Friday, January 24.
Furthermore, Erick said, the study was carried out by the DPR. The BUMN Bill was also initiated by the DPR.
"This is not the initiation of the Minister of SOEs or the initiation of the government, this is the initiation of the DPR. So later in the brewing there, we will do it," said Erick.
Erick admitted that he could not confirm whether the legislator would change the definition of BUMN in the BUMN Bill.
Therefore, he admitted that he could not explain the relationship between the Ministry of SOEs and Danantara.
Although there has been no comprehensive explanation regarding Danantara, Erick explained that the agency will later consolidate BUMN assets.
"One of them will be consolidated assets and investments," he said.

On the other hand, Erick believes that the BUMN Bill can strengthen the government's strategy in achieving the national economic growth target of 8 percent.
This is because the regulation will create derivative rules, one of which is related to downstreaming.
"The management and merger of BUMN assets can be part of building our independent country. Economic growth is 8 percent, then the derivatives are downstream, industrialized, the atmosphere is food, energy, and also the opening of employment opportunities," he explained.
