12 Thousand IPhone 16 Units Officially Enter Indonesia, Here's How To Get It

JAKARTA The launch sign of the iPhone 16 series in Indonesia is now increasingly visible. Although Apple has not met the Domestic Component Level (TDKN) regulations, thousands of iPhone 16 units have been legally registered.

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) stated that more than 12,000 iPhone 16 series units have been legally registered with IMEI. This data is obtained from the Centralized Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system.

Although TDKN has not been fulfilled and the iPhone 16 series cannot be sold online and offline in Indonesia, thousands of devices that have been circulating are still officially entered. According to Ministry of Industry spokesman Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, the device entered in four ways.

"That's what our CEIR system records. So we ask, in the CEIR system, the number of IMEIs given to the iPhone 16 series, the number is above 12 thousand," Febri said at the Ministry of Industry's office, quoted from Liputan6 on Friday, January 24.

4 How To Get IPhone 16 Officially

Febri explained that the Indonesian people can still buy the iPhone 16 series legally through four ways. First, people can buy from abroad and bring their devices to Indonesia. After that, they can get IMEI from the Ministry of Industry.

Next, they can return to Indonesia by plane and pay the Customs and Excise tax. Third, the iPhone 16 series that entered Indonesia is a luggage of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) specifically for diplomats.

Last or fourth way, people can have an iPhone 16 series if given by cellular operators with a certain period of active period. From these four ways, the second way seems to be most relied on because 5,448 units of the iPhone 16 are registered on Customs and Excise.

Apart from these four ways, the iPhone 16 series operating in Indonesia will be considered illegal. People are still not allowed to sell these phones before Apple meets TDKN at least 35 percent.
