Support Stunting Prevention With 3 ADVANCED Steps (3LM)

JAKARTA - In commemoration of National Nutrition Day on January 25, 2025, there are still many health problems related to nutrition in Indonesia. One of them is stunting, chronic nutrition problems that have an impact on the physical growth and cognitive development of children.

Stunting is still a health challenge faced by Indonesian children, where 21.6% or about 1 in 5 children in Indonesia are still stunted. In fact, stunting can be one of the problems that can hinder the growth and optimal potential of children as the successors of the Indonesian nation's generation, so that it can hinder the realization of the 2045 golden generation.

The stunting problem occurs due to many factors, ranging from lack of education, inadequate nutritional intake, to limited access to health facilities.

There are various risk factors that can cause stunting, among others, the low understanding of parents about stunting so that they do not pay attention to Mother's intake during pregnancy and child intake such as adequate breast milk and improper practice of feeding companions (MPASI), said Pediatrician, dr. Novitria Dwinanda, SpA(K), in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

"In addition, the lack of routine monitoring of children's growth and development is due to public awareness and limited access to health facilities," he added.

The important thing that must be done to prevent stunting from increasing in Indonesia is screening and referrals. Early screening is the key in early detection so that intervention against stunting can be carried out quickly.

Seeing this, Danone SN Indonesia through Sarihusada collaborated with Alodokter to create a campaign of 3 ADVANCED Steps (3LM). This campaign was created to expand the range of screening of children's nutritional status, in order to prevent stunting in Indonesian children.

3 STEPS FORWARD (3LM) which is still part of the Stunting-Free Advanced Generation Movement (GMBS). The collaboration initiative through this latest campaign is in line with Sarihusada's vision to expand access to health and fulfillment of nutrition for Indonesian children, and is one form of our commitment to continue to encourage stunting prevention in Indonesia," said CEO of Danone Specialized Nutrition (SN) Indonesia, Lee Meeng Thong.

In this 3LM campaign, child nutrition screening will be expanded, with a target of one million children by 2025. This campaign will be held throughout Indonesia.

The things that include 3 MAJU steps are to measure height and weight regularly, consult a doctor, and try to provide clinically tested nutrition to children. It is hoped that these steps can provide the right intervention for Indonesian children and they can grow and develop optimally in the future.
