Betrayed Leaked Secret Information To As, Russian Man Imprisoned 17 Years
JAKARTA - A Russian man was jailed for 17 years after being found guilty of providing classified information to representatives of US intelligence agencies.
"The Moscow Municipal Court found Dmitry Arkadyevich Shatresov guilty of high treason in the interests of the United States," the TASS report quoted a statement by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).
"It has been determined that Shatresov DC, after obtaining information that is a state secret using illegal methods, (and) guided by criminal intent, intends to transfer it to American intelligence representatives," the FSB continued as reported by Reuters, Thursday, January 23.
A spokesman for the US Embassy in Moscow did not immediately respond to a response request. Meanwhile lawyer Shatresov refused to answer questions.

TASS reported 40-year-old Shatresov, who was sentenced on Wednesday, lives outside the Russian capital and works in logistics.
Moscow court press service published photos and videos of Shatresov, wearing glasses and a blue veiled shirt, standing inside the defendant's room in the courtroom.
In the video, he tries to protect his face from the camera.
Reportedly, 792 people in Russia have been charged with treason, espionage, or in collaboration with foreign countries since the conflict began nearly three years ago, according to Pervy Otdel (First Department), the Russian lawyer association.
