Minister Of Transportation Kaji Discounts On Airline Ticket Prices During The 2025 Eid Homecoming Period

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi plans to implement a discount policy on aircraft ticket prices during the Lebaran 2025 homecoming period.

Previously, the discounted flight ticket price policy was previously implemented during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) holidays from 19 December 2024 to 3 January 2025.

At least, there are several parties who have contributed to the reduction in ticket prices. For example, airport operators, the Ministry of Transportation and also PT Pertamina.

"We will again calculate the feasibility of discounting plane ticket prices at Lebaran 2025 homecoming. I will coordinate with all parties," he said when met at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Thursday, January 23.

Furthermore, Dudy also admitted that he would conduct a survey related to the plan to reduce the price of aircraft tikey during the Lebaran 2025 homecoming period.

"We will also conduct a survey, there we will then convey the results (how much the percentage decrease in aircraft ticket prices at Lebaran 2025 homecoming)," he said.

One of the important and largest components in the aviation ticket price structure is aviation fuel. The avtur price in Indonesia itself is 43 percent higher than other countries in Southeast Asia.

The high price of avtur in Indonesia is allegedly due to the monopoly carried out by PT Pertamina (Persero).

Dudy admitted that he had not discussed the decline in avtur prices with operators, in this case PT Pertamina, for the Leberan 2025 homecoming period. Even so, he said, Pertamina contributed to the decrease in ticket prices in the Nataru period yesterday.

"Later we have to talk to them first. But yesterday from Pertamina, when Nataru, it was also an anticipation to reduce the decline by about 7 percent, if I don't remember it wrong," he said.

Previously, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir opened his voice about the possibility of discounting plane tickets during the Lebaran 2025 homecoming period. He said he was still waiting for President Prabowo Subianto's direction.

Furthermore, Erick admitted that he could not comment much on the possibility of discounting plane tickets such as during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) holidays before a meeting with Prabowo.

"I can't comment before there is a meeting from the President directly," Erick told reporters written Wednesday, January 22.

Erick said the Ministry of SOEs was only carrying out directions. Therefore, he said that when there is a direction from Prabowo, the Ministry of SOEs and the Ministry of Transportation will implement it.

"Yes, of course, he will lead all of that, what kind of direction. Only later will the implementation be in the two of us (Ministry of SOEs and Ministry of Transportation). Like yesterday (airplane ticket discount) for Nataru," he explained.
