Educating In The Field Of Education And Culture, Minister Of Culture Appreciates NU
JAKARTA - Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon appreciated NU's dedication in the field of education and culture. "Through his educational network, NU became an agent of social and cultural transformation, printed generations that were not only knowledgeable, but also cultured and had noble morals," he said in his remarks at the Nahdlatul Ulama Education Award Night at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
The NU Education Congress in 2025 is the first time it has been held regarding NU's 102nd Birthday. Today NU manages around 13,000 Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions, 26,000 Islamic boarding schools, and 15,000 schools and madrasas.
According to Minister Fadli, congress is a momentum in maintaining Islamic values through education. Islam as Rahmatan lil 'Alamin is not only a concern for the people, but also a light for the culture and civilization of the Indonesian nation.
On this occasion, Minister Fadli revealed that the Ministry of Culture manages one of the museums with the theme of Islamic culture, namely the Indonesian Islamic Museum Kyai Haji Hasyim Asy'ari in Tebuireng, Jombang. The revitalization of the museum will be completed in the near future, so that it will soon become a representative museum. Including how storytelling the historical narrative of the entry of Islam into Indonesia, the development of Islam, and the birth of Nahdlatul Ulama as part of Kyai Haji Hasyim Asy'ari'ari's struggle as well as clerical figures in Indonesia.
Minister Fadli explained that this was an attempt by the Ministry of Culture to revive the narrative of Islamic civilization in Indonesia. According to him, Indonesia, which is mostly inhabited by Muslims, does not yet have a classy museum, such as the Museum of Islamic Arts in Qatar. "We also want museums to present which describe Islamic civilization and the expression of Islamic arts in Indonesia which are actually very diverse and very numerous," said the Minister of Culture.

The Chief Executive of the 2025 NU Education Congress, H. Imron Rosyadi Hamid at the opening of the activity said that the theme of the 2025 NU Education Congress was the Education Transformation Towards Golden Indonesia in 2045 and the Benefit of the Human Society. "This Education Congress is a strategic momentum to reflect on educational trips under the auspices of NU," he said.
The Education Award night began with remarks from Ulil Absar, the chairman of Team 7 as the Jury who delivered 22 award-winning nominations, covering various fields at the PAUD level, educational institutions and figures who contributed at the high school level, awards for lecturers and scientists in Nahdlatul Ulama college relations, as well as awards for educators and figures who contributed to pesantren education.
The NU 2025 Education Congress was attended by 300 people consisting of representatives of schools under the auspices of NU, ranging from the Early Childhood Education (Paud), Madrasah, Islamic Boarding School, and NU Higher Education Institutions (LPT) levels. At the NU Education Award Night, the award winner was announced for the categories of the best educational institutions and the category of inspirational figures in the world of education, from Aceh to Papua.
