Megawati's 78th Anniversary: Simple Gratitude At The Batutulis Palace

BOGOR General Chairperson of the PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, celebrates her 78th birthday at the Batutulis Palace, Puri Bima Sakti, Bogor City, on Thursday, January 23. The thanksgiving event is filled with cutting cones and cakes, as well as Megawati's important message to keep PDIP solid.

The thanksgiving was held simply on Thursday afternoon, attended by a number of figures who had collaborated with Megawati when she served as the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia. Several PDI-P cadres were also present at the warm event.

Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, TB Hasanuddin, who was met in front of the gates of the Batutulis Palace, explained that the celebration took place in a simple atmosphere, far from excitement.

"It's very simple. Only a few PDI-P cadres, former ministers, and the Coordinating Minister when he served as president were present. Incidentally, I was also the secretary of the military when Mrs. Mega became president," Hasanuddin said.

According to Hasanuddin, the atmosphere of the birthday event was fluid and full of togetherness. Most events are filled with casual chats and processions of cutting cones and cakes.

"There are no other activities, just chatting casually, cutting cones, and cakes," he explained.

Even though Megawati did not convey a special message, Megawati still emphasized the importance of maintaining solidarity within the party. Hasanuddin said that when shaking hands, Megawati gave a message that cadres comply with party policies and decisions.

"When shaking hands, he said, 'You obey Mother's policies and decisions so that the party is solid and advanced.' That's all," Hasanuddin added.

Previously, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto revealed that Megawati had chosen to simply celebrate her birthday with those closest to her.

According to Hasto, Megawati is not only the general chairman of the party, but is also considered a mother figure for the cadres.

"We are bound ideologically, spiritually, historically, and with a strong mind and sense that Ibu Mega maintains the constitution and democracy," said Hasto.
