Indonesia Masters 2025: Rinov/Lisa Qualify For Quarter Finals

JAKARTA - Mixed doubles pair Rinov Rivaldy/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati secured tickets to the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters 2025.

They qualified after stopping the British pair, Gregory Mairs/Jenny Mairs, two straight games 21-18 and 22-20 at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, January 23, 2025, afternoon WIB.

Rinov/Lisa came close to missing in the second game after taking the lead. They then managed to get out of the pressure at the last point which was tight.

"I made a lot of mistakes. The balls also trouble my own colleagues. Our opponents also changed the pattern of the game so we weren't calm a bit," said Lisa.

This is Rinov/Lisa's second win after being reshuffled to the current formation. They previously went through the first round of this tournament on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, with a rubber game victory.

Rinov/Lisa, who have been reshuffled to the formation now since late last year, played their first tournament as a couple at the India Open 2025 last week. At that time they went home early in the first half.

Rinov admits that as their new partner, of course, they are still trying to find cohesiveness.

"It takes time. We don't know when chemistry can be done," he said.

Rinov/Lisa are the first representatives of Indonesia to qualify for the last eight. Their move failed to be followed by Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin.

The men's doubles pair must recognize the superiority of the South Korean pair, Kang Min-hyuk/Kim Won-ho, in the two straight game matches 19-21 and 19-21.
