Afghan Man Arrested For Berpisau Attack That Killed 2 People In Germany

JAKARTA - A 28-year-old man from Afghanistan was arrested following a knife attack in the park in the town of Askaffenburg, Germany. The attack killed two people, including a toddler.

The suspect was arrested at the scene of the incident in Schoental park, an English-style park in the city of Bavaria, where the attack took place at around 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, local time.

Reported by Reuters, a 41-year-old man and a two-year-old boy were seriously injured, police said in a post on social media platform X.

Two people who were seriously injured were undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The stabbing adds to a series of violent attacks in Germany that have raised concerns about security and raised tensions over migration ahead of parliamentary elections on February 23.

A Saudi doctor was arrested after an attack hit a car at a Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg on December 20, which killed six people and injured about 200 people.
