Chinese Citizens Killed In Afghanistan's Takhar, Investigated By Allegations Of Militant Group Attacks
JAKARTA A Chinese citizen was killed in the northern Afghan province of Takhar. Police are now conducting an initial investigation.
One other person is an interpreter who accompanied the injured victim, as reported by Reuters, Wednesday, January 22.
It is unclear who was behind the attack or whether the attack was carried out by militant groups.
China was the first country to appoint ambassadors to Afghanistan under the Taliban and said it wanted to improve trade and investment relations.
The Taliban took power in 2021 and pledged to restore security in the war-torn country. Attacks continue, including attacks claimed by ISIS against hotels popular among Chinese investors in 2022 in Kabul.
