Students In North Bengkulu Become Victims Of Sexual Harassment Of Honorary Teachers, 11 Times Performed During Academic Hours

JAKARTA - The Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) of the North Bengkulu Police (Polres) arrested an honorary teacher with the initials JM (33) sexually harassing his student.

Based on the results of the interim examination, the suspect had abused the underage victim 11 times during the lesson hours.

"The incident (sexual harassment or immorality) was reported in September 2024 by the victim's parents," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the North Bengkulu Police, Iptu Rizky Dwi Cahyo, in Bengkulu City, Wednesday, January 22, as reported by Antara.

He said that the perpetrators had abused their students from February to June 2024.

The chronology of the incident began when the head of the hamlet in one of the areas in North Bengkulu Regency came to the house of the victim's parents with the initials HB and said 'be patient, sir' without giving any explanation.

Out of curiosity, HB asked whether the hamlet head had really become a victim of the abuse or not.

According to Rizky, based on the victim's narrative, the action was carried out at the school and even received physical violence from the perpetrators, such as strangling the victim to fulfill his wishes.

The perpetrator JM had previously fled to another district, and the officers finally managed to catch the perpetrator while at his home in Lais District, North Bengkulu Regency.

"He was found at his house in Lais. Over the past three months, the perpetrator fled to Lebong Regency. He returned home because his wife had just given birth," he said.

For now, because Rizky, the perpetrator JM is undergoing further investigation regarding the case at the North Bengkulu Police.
