Film 'Rasa Secret', Hanung Bramantyo Efforts To Advance Indonesian Culinary

JAKARTA - Director Hanung Bramantyo presents the latest film, Rasa Secret. This film takes the historical side of Indonesia combined with the culinary world played by Jerome Kurnia and Nadya Arina.

The first culinary film to be wrapped in history. I like historical films, only I want to make history films but not rigid. I know this film will be sung by historians but Indonesian history for all of us," said Hanung Bramantyo at a press conference on Wednesday, January 22.

In America, history can be wrapped in entertainment but we don't, why? Because we are afraid. I don't care. For me, the film does not represent history, cinemas are not libraries, but cinemas are driving young people towards wider literacy, namely libraries," he said.

Through this film, Hanung wants Indonesian culinary to be able to progress globally and compete with Korean foods which are also known for their spectacles.

I am against the dominance of external culinary in Indonesia. Toppoki is cooler than pempek, gudeg. Food is political diplomacy. That's the problem. Soekarno understands that," said Hanung again.

The film is an effective medium for the audience's brainwash, so it is those who have a moral and creative concern. In morals there is a political movement, we must love the country, we have a culinary identity that we want to convey," he continued.

Rasa's secret directed by Hanung tells the story of Ressa (Jerome Kurnia) who loses her taste so she can't taste anything from her tongue. One day, he was asked to look for Mustikarasa's original recipe which turned out to be related to Indonesian history.

This film is played by Jerome Kurnia, Nadya Arina, Ciccio Manasero, Valerie Thomas, Slamet Rahardjo, and Yati Surachman.

The Secret Rasa film will be shown in theaters starting February 20.
