Commission II Of The DPR And The Minister Of Home Affairs Agree That The Elected Regional Head Will Be Inaugurated By The President On February 6

JAKARTA - Commission II of the DPR RI together with the government, in this case the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) agreed that the elected regional head for the 2024-2029 period was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

This agreement was taken at a working meeting of Commission II of the DPR with the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 22.

"So both governors, deputy governors, regents, deputy regents, mayors, deputy mayors, all those who inaugurate the President. The legal basis is the provisions in Article 164B of Law Number 10 of 2016, where the President as the Head of Government has the right to inaugurate regents, deputy regents, mayors, deputy mayors simultaneously," said Chairman of Commission III DPR, Rifqinizami Karsayuda after the meeting.

Rifqi said that his party had carried out an in-depth legal analysis regarding the agreement. Even the meeting has been held openly and transparently.

"So that the public can see that in a juridical manner we do not hesitate at all to propose February 6 as a date for simultaneous inauguration," said Rifqi.

The Minister of Home Affairs, added Rifqi, even admitted that in the history of the Indonesian nation, this is the first time the President will inaugurate governors, regents, mayors simultaneously.

"And I think this is also a new history for Indonesia, not only the simultaneous regional elections, but the inauguration is simultaneous and carried out by the President," he added.
