Not Only For Health, Young People Use Smartwatches For Social Media Needs
JAKARTA - Six out of ten young people in Indonesia are smartphone users or smartwatches. This was revealed through the results of the Lokadata survey released in 2024.
"Unik is also 6 out of 10 young people using smartwatches," said Lokadata Chief Data Officer, Suwandi Ahmad, at the Power Lunch event, in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
One of the goals of young people to use smartwatches in their daily lives is to monitor their health. As is known, smartwatches can monitor health such as monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, calorie intake, to sleep patterns.
Not only that, the smartwatch is also used as a reminder for when to exercise, so that body health is maintained.
"The goal is to use a smartwatch to monitor health, to be more aware, to remind someone when it's time to work out, when it's time to walk, to determine when to exercise and when not," he explained.
However, apart from health, smartwatches are also used by young people for content needs on social media. Records of achievements in various activities listed on smartwatches are often used by young people for content on their personal social media accounts.
