Minister Of Home Affairs Prepares 3 Elected Regional Head Inauguration Options

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), Tito Karnavian prepared three options for the inauguration of elected regional heads for the 2024-2029 period. The option was conveyed in a working meeting of the Minister of Home Affairs with Commission II of the DPR at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 22.

The first option, governor and deputy governor, regent, mayor and deputy mayor were inaugurated simultaneously by President Prabowo Subianto, based on articles 163 and 164B.

"This is article 164B, July 1, 2016 (Pilkada Law), Mr. Prabowo has not yet become president, I also had not become Minister of Home Affairs at that time, so I did not participate in this law," Tito said in the DPR Commission II meeting room.

"(Opsi A) This is carried out by the president inaugurating it, and the government will determine February 6, Thursday, and it does not exceed the 20 days provided by law for the inauguration. Places in Jakarta, the nation's capital, are most likely at the State Palace. And this is the undercurrent of the regents, mayors, very strong," he continued.

Option B, governor and deputy governor will still be inaugurated by the president but at different times. "The governor himself, the deputy regent himself, so that there is a difference. Thursday, for governor, February 6, Monday for mayor," he said.

Option C, governor and deputy governor are sworn in by the president in the nation's capital. Then after that the regent, deputy regent, mayor was sworn in by his governor after the date of the presidential inauguration.

"However, please remember that those who are inaugurated are those who have no disputes, the number is 22.21 non-disputes, plus one Yogyakarta governor, who is indeed the DIY law as the automatic governor, so 22," he explained.

The second option, Tito continued, was if the government followed the advice of the Constitutional Court, meaning that the regional head inauguration would be carried out after March 13.

The third option, Tito said it was carried out no later than February 15. "If this follows this schedule, then with these various options, the president, if option 1 denotes everything, we will exercise it on March 20, 2025, meaning 1.5 months after February, non-dispute ones must wait 1.5 months. Then if the governor is inaugurated first, then the mayor chooses March 24. So the time is even longer," concluded Tito.
