DKI Provincial Government Ready To Build Mitigation Embankments To Minimize Rob Floods
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has expressed readiness to build mitigation embankments at several points to minimize tidal flooding, including Muara Angke, Pluit, Muara Baru, Sunda Kelapa, Marunda (Si Pitung House) and Jalan RE Martadinata.
"In 2025, a mitigation embankment will be built in several areas so that later the embankment can help deal with the tidal problem," said Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi, Tuesday, January 21.
The mitigation embankment was built while waiting for the construction of a sea embankment or Coastal Integrated Development of the State Capital (PTPIN/NCICD) to be completed by 2030.
"God willing (with the mitigation embankment) these six inundation points can be resolved, the tidal wave that is now happening hopefully can be minimized. Although this name is a mitigation embankment until the NCICD embankment is built," said Teguh. However, he did not explain in more detail regarding the mitigation embankment, such as the construction time, the length of the embankment and its location.
The NCICD or PTPIN is one of the national strategic programs under the Directorate General of Water Resources (Ditjen SDA), Ministry of Public Works (PU).
The principle of PTPIN development is not only as a controller of sea level rise and flooding, but also to improve environmental conditions with the presence of the third space concept.
Apart from being related to the tidal wave, Teguh also conveyed the DKI Provincial Government's anticipatory steps in dealing with the rainy season. This step is like the construction of macro main channels and supporters, which can accommodate a maximum rainfall of 150 millimeters per day and 100 millimeters per day, respectively.

If the rainfall exceeds the channel's ability, then there will be inundation or flooding.
Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government is intensively paying attention to the weather forecast published by the BMKG.
"If it is indeed an estimate that we can still anticipate relatively, we will still have the main channel of our supporting channels that must be carried out," he said.
But if the rainfall is heavy, then the weather modification (OMC) will still be carried out. "And the budget has been prepared at BPBD," he said, quoted by ANTARA.
