Israeli Military Operation Kills One Palestinian In West Bank Jenin

JAKARTA - Israeli security forces launched operations in the volatile city of Jenin in the West Bank, killing one Palestinian.

The military said soldiers, police, and intelligence agencies had started counter-terrorism in the city, but did not provide further details.

Prior to Israel's actions, Palestinian security forces carried out weeks of operations to reaffirm control of the city and its nearby refugee camps, which are the main center of the armed militant group in the West Bank.

As reported by Reuters on Tuesday, January 21, Palestinian health services said one Palestinian was killed and four others injured when Israeli attacks began in Jenin, where Israeli airstrikes last week in refugee camps killed three Palestinians and injured many.

The move to Jenin, where Israeli soldiers carried out many massive attacks and attacks over the past few years, comes just days after the start of a ceasefire in Gaza and underscores the threat of greater violence in the West Bank.

On Monday evening, a group of Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians, destroyed cars and burned property, just as the newly appointed US President Donald Trump announced that he was lifting sanctions against violent settlers.

Serangan di desa desa al-Funduq, di daerah di mana tiga warga Israel tewas dalam penembakan awal bulan ini, adalah yang terbaru dari serangkaian incident yang meningkat cepat sejak dimulainya perangan di Gaza.

The military said it had opened an investigation into the incident, which it said involved dozens of Israeli civilians, some of whom wore face coverings.
