The DKI Provincial Government Is Still Waiting For The Central Government's Direction On Sea Fence On Island C Reclamation
JAKARTA - Assistant to the Government of the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretariat (Setda) Sigit Wijatmoko admitted that the DKI Provincial Government is still waiting for the direction of the central government, namely the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Agriculture (KKP) regarding the existence of a sea fence around Island C of Jakarta's reclamation.
"We will wait for directions from the center as to what kind of direction, but we communicate with the KKP to do the necessary things if there is a need for support from the DKI Provincial Government," said Sigit in a discussion entitled "Jakarta Update" DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, January 21.
So far, the activity of adding a 500-meter-long bamboo fence near Island C has been stopped after being widely discussed by the public. Sigit admitted that this issue was still being followed up.
"The provincial government's attitude is that we provide support to the central government if there is something that needs support. So that everything is expected to be in one direction and one vision," said Sigit.
Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agricultural Security Service (DKPKP) Suharini Eliawati emphasized that all types of sea space utilization, including the installation of fences, refer to the applicable laws and regulations and must have a suitability permit for Marine Spatial Utilization Activities (KKPRL) and related business licensing.
"Laut is a common property and is open access. So, if it turns out that there is no valid permit, then further action is needed with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries," said Suharini.
