The Government Set School Holidays Only At The Beginning And End Of Ramadan 2025

JAKARTA - The government officially stipulates holidays for students in schools at the beginning and end of Ramadan 2025. This is stated in the Circular (SE) with the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Minister of Religion, and Minister of Home Affairs which regulates learning in Ramadan 2025.

The SE regulates learning activities to be carried out independently in the family environment on 27-28 February, as well as 3, 4, and 5 March 2025, and on 6 to 25 March 2025 to carry out learning activities carried out in schools/madrasah/religious education units.

This regulation is expected to be a reference for local governments, the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of the Province / Regency / City, schools / madrasah / religious education units, teachers, education staff, parents / guardians, and / or related parties in the context of learning in schools / madrasas / religious education units during the month of Ramadan.

"Thus the local government through the Education Office, Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of the Province, and the Office of the Regency/City Ministry of Religion compiled and established a learning plan during the month of Ramadan," said Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 21, quoted by Antara.

As for the 26th, 27th, and 28th of March as well as the 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8th of April 2025, it is a joint holiday of Eid al-Fitr for schools/madrasah/units of religious education. Learning activities in schools/madrasah/units of religious education will be carried out again on April 9, 2025.

"During the Eid al-Fitr holiday, students are expected to carry out friendships with their families and communities to increase brotherhood and unity," said Abdul Mu'ti.

In addition to learning activities, the Minister of Education and Culture expects students to carry out activities that are useful for increasing faith and piety, noble morals, leadership, and social activities that form the noble character and main personality during Ramadan.

Students who are Muslim are encouraged to carry out Al Quran tadarus activities, flash pesantren, Islamic studies, and other activities that increase faith, piety, and noble morals.

Meanwhile, said Abdul Mu'ti, for students who are religious other than Islam, it is recommended to carry out spiritual guidance and religious activities in accordance with their respective religions and beliefs.

This regulation also regulates the role of local governments in preparing planning learning activities during the month of Ramadan to be guided by schools, as well as aligning the time for implementing learning activities in schools during the month of Ramadan.

Meanwhile, the role of the Office of Wilyah (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Religion of the Province / Regency / City is to prepare a learning activity planning during the month of Ramadan to be guided by madrasas / religious education units, and to harmonize the timing of the implementation of learning activities in madrasas / religious education units during the month of Ramadan.

Meanwhile, the role of parents/guardians is to guide and assist students in carrying out worship and monitor students when carrying out independent learning activities.
