Hundreds Of Aid Trucks Enter Gaza After The Ceasefire Agreement

JAKARTA - The humanitarian aid truck has re-entered the Gaza Strip, along with the ceasefire between the Palestinian militant group Hamas and Israel which took effect on Sunday.

United Nations humanitarian officials say more than 630 humanitarian aid trucks have entered the Gaza Strip, as an implementation of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

In a post on social media X Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher wrote, more than 630 trucks entered Gaza on Sunday, with at least 300 of them bringing humanitarian aid to the northern region.

"No time wasted," wrote Fletcher, launching The Times of Israel January 20.

"After 15 months of relentless war, the need for humanity is enormous," he said.

It is known that a ceasefire agreement between Palestinian militant groups Hamas and Israel came into effect last Sunday, after several hours of delay.

It follows the agreement of both sides after negotiations brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States for months and announced by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Wednesday last week.

Separately, Commissioner General of the United Nations Aid and Work Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini confirmed on Sunday the agency had 4,000 trucks containing humanitarian aid, half carrying food and flour, which are ready to enter the Gaza Strip, quoted from WAFA.

Lazzarini also indicated that attacks on aid convoys in Gaza could be reduced after humanitarian aid began to flow following the ceasefire.

He stressed that UNRWA remains committed to continuing its operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, although Israel has imposed a ban on its activities which will take effect on January 30, 2025.

UNRWA is the only agency capable of providing essential health and education services in Gaza.

Meanwhile, representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Palestinian territory occupied by Rik Peeperkorn revealed that his party plans to deploy an undisclosed number of field hospitals to support the health sector that is badly affected in Gaza over the next two months.
