Ethereum Foundation Overhauled, Vitalik Buterin Wants To Focus On This

JAKARTA - The Ethereum Foundation aka the Ethereum Foundation, the organization behind the development of Ethereum crypto assets, is making major changes to its leadership structure. This was revealed directly by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, on January 18, 2025.

The change aims to strengthen the technical capabilities of the ranks within the Ethereum Foundation management. In addition, Vitalik Buterin also wants to improve communication with all parties involved in the Ethereum ecosystem.

Buterin explained that this change is important for a number of reasons. First, the Ethereum Foundation wants to recruit people with the best talent in its field and accelerate the decision-making process and program implementation. Second, the Ethereum Foundation wants to provide more active support to developers who build applications on the Ethereum platform.

Buterin also affirmed the foundation's commitment to protecting user privacy, supporting the development of open source software (open-source), and ensuring applications on Ethereum are resistant to sensors or restrictions. The foundation will also further leverage decentralization and privacy technology for payment and financial management in the Ethereum network.

Most importantly, Buterin stressed that this change will not turn the Ethereum Foundation into a political lobbying organization, especially in big countries like the United States. The goal is to maintain Ethereum neutrality as a global platform accessible to anyone.

According to CryptoBriefing, Buterin also ensured that foundations would not side with certain interests or concentrate power in the Ethereum ecosystem. "This is not and will not work. Those looking for different visions are welcome to build their own organizations," said Buterin.

This announcement came after the Ethereum Foundation launched a new X account, @ethereumfndn, a few days ago. This marks the return of the Ethereum Foundation to social media after a year of absence.

This move was taken as part of the Ethereum Foundation's efforts to be more transparent and open, following criticism aimed at their activities and leadership. Previously, Aave's team and other community members had called for leadership changes to increase efficiency and address funding issues.
