JetBlue Passengers Arrested By Police Because They Opened The Airplane Emergency Door
JAKARTA - Massachusetts State Police were summoned to Logan International Airport, Boston, United States last Tuesday, after a JetBlue passenger opened the door of the plane, causing the emergency doors to open, police and airlines said.
At around NIGHT, authorities responded to the JetBlue 161 flight after a passenger "who wanted to get off the plane suddenly opened the door of the plane without warning," police said in a statement to CNN, as quoted January 15.
Another passenger quickly detained the person until the police arrived to detain them for further questioning.
"A customer, for unknown reasons, opened the exit door on the wing of the plane while the plane was launching at Logan, causing the emergency exit to open," JetBlue told CNN, and postponed further investigations into law enforcement officers.
The person remained on the plane while police were called to the scene. The arrested passenger is expected to face charges and will be charged in the East Boston District Court, police said.
The identity of passengers on the Boston flight has not been released pending the finalization of the indictment. Preliminary information shows this is an "isolated incident" and there is no belief that this "suggests threats to public safety," authorities said.
