Erick Thohir Calls Bali International Hospital Progress Reaches 97 Percent

JAKARTA - The construction of an international standard hospital project, namely Bali International Hospital (BIH) has reached 97.63 percent until January 16, 2025.

The development progress carried out by PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) marks the completion of one of the national strategic projects located in the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone (KEK), Bali.

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir during his visit to BIH said that health is one of the most important things in developing Indonesian people.

"I would like to thank PT PP and IHC for being committed to being an important part of the development of the health ecosystem in Indonesia," Erick said, quoting Antara.

Meanwhile, the BIH project includes a building covering an area of 667,465 square meters on an area of 50,000 square meters, with a capacity of 255 inpatient rooms.

The hospital is designed to provide superior services in five key specialties, namely Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, Gastroenterohepatology, and Orthopaedics (CONGO).

In addition, this project puts forward the eco-friendly concept by obtaining Gold certification from the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI), thanks to initiatives such as utilizing renewable energy, processing graywater wastewater, and green open spaces covering more than 80 percent of the total land area.

The concept of sustainability is expected to be an additional attraction for medical tourists who come to Bali.

The construction of BIH coincides with the increasing flow of tourist visits to Bali.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the number of foreign tourists (tourists) who came directly to Bali from January to November 2024 reached 5,782,260 visits, or the highest since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

In June 2024, there were 518,819 visits, an increase of 7.24 percent compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pertamina Simon Aloysius Mantiri hopes that BIH development can become an international hospital leading for the IHC Group and further encourage growth and success in health transformation.

"Bali has again proven itself to be a leading tourist destination in the world, with an attraction in the form of natural beauty, cultural wealth, and hospitality," said Simon.

With the recovery of the tourism sector, he said that Bali is facing new challenges to manage the surge in tourists in a sustainable manner.

"The presence of Bali International Hospital in the midst of the momentum of Bali tourism recovery provides a strategic opportunity for the development of medical tourism in Indonesia," said Simon.

Support from PT PP in this project is proof of the company's commitment to not only building infrastructure, but also supporting sustainable economic growth.

With these various opportunities, Bali has further confirmed its position as a global tourism center that not only relies on the recreation sector, but also superior health services that are integrated with the concept of sustainability.
