Neymar Can Be Unemployed, Can't Play At The Level As He Used To

JAKARTA - Neymar's contract with Al Hilal will end in June 2025. The Saudi Arabian Pro-League club has even been willing to release the Brazilian player in the winter market, January 2025.

Neymar is allowed to negotiate with any club to guarantee his future. The problem is, the 32-year-old will find it difficult to find a new port.

Al Hilal's manager, Jorge Jesus - who crossed out Neymar from the squad list for the second half of the season - is concerned that Neymar will no longer be able to play at the same level as before.

"I don't know anything about Neymar's future. I can't comment on things I don't know."

"The Pro Saudi Arabian league is one of the best leagues in the world. Neymar can no longer play at the level we usually see," said Jesus.

Jorge Jesus has a reason. According to him, Neymar is very vulnerable to current injuries.

After being absent for more than a year due to an ACL injury and hitting the left knee, Neymar actually appeared again in October 2024. However, he returned to the treatment room in November 2024 due to a hamstring injury.

"Saat saya membentuk tim ini, itu bersama (Aleksandar) Mitrovic dan Neymar, sebelum ia mengalami cedera yang membuatnya selepat dari kompetisi selama 14 atau 15 bulan."

"Unfortunately, things are getting difficult for him. He is still under contract with Al Hilal and maybe it's up to him to decide on his future. It depends on the club and administration."

"The only thing I know is that Neymar is not registered (in the Pro-Saudi Arabian League). The window (transfer) is still open until January 31, 2025. So, I'm not going to speculate on things I don't know about," Jorge Jesus said again.

Currently, interest only comes from three Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs, including Chicago Fire.

However, Neymar had previously said that he would only move to the United States if he joined his former colleagues at Barcelona, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, who are currently defending Inter Miami.

The problem is, Inter Miami has openly refused Neymar's arrival due to the player's salary rules.

Neymar has scored one goal in seven appearances since joining Al Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain with a league transfer record of 90 million euros in August 2023.

Former Barcelona striker, who is Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer with 79 goals, was not registered to play in the Saudi Arabian Pro League in the first half of the season. He has played in the Asian Champions League.

Defending champion Al Hilal is currently at the top of the standings with 40 points, only ahead in goal difference over Al Ittihad after 15 games played.
