Surprisingly, Haaland Signs New Contracts 10 Years Long With Manchester City

JAKARTA - Erling Haaland has signed a large 10-year contract at Manchester City.

Previously, the attacker was under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, but had extended his contract until 2034.

The exact figure of the contract renewal has not been published by The Citizens. However, some sources say that it is one of the most lucrative contracts in sports history.

The new 24-year-old player's deal also removed the purchase clause that was included in his contract when he arrived from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

Haaland is closely linked with his move to Spain in the future, after Real Madrid and Barcelona expressed interest in the past.

However, the Norwegian's new deal will now keep him at the Etihad after his 33rd birthday.

"I'm very happy to have signed a new contract and can look forward to spending more time at this great club," Haaland said.

"Manchester City is a special club, full of great people with extraordinary supporters and is the type of environment that helps bring everyone's best abilities out."

"I would also like to thank Pep (Guardiola), his coaching staff, my teammates, and everyone at the club for all of them helping me a lot in recent years."

"They have made this place so special and now I am staying at Manchester City, no matter what."

"Now I want to continue to develop, continue to work to be better, and try to do my best to try and help us achieve more success in the future," Haaland said.

This news is another boost for Manchester City after Guardiola approved a new contract requirement in November 2024. The Spanish coach's contract kept him at the Etihad until 2027.

Haaland has enjoyed phenomenal success since joining Manchester City two and a half years ago. He has scored 111 goals in 126 games for the club and won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and the Champions League.
