Mbak Ita Prefers To Attend Scheduled Agendas Instead Of Fulfilling KPK Calls Today

JAKARTA - Semarang Mayor Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu or Mbak Ita did not fulfill the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as a suspect in alleged corruption today, Friday, January 17. He chose to carry out an agenda that had already been scheduled.

"He gave a statement of the reason for his absence. There are activities that have been scheduled and cannot be abandoned," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika to reporters, Friday, January 17.

The anti-corruption commission should have summoned Mbak Ita and three other suspects in the corruption case at the Semarang City Government (Pemkot), Central Java. They are Mbak Ita's husband, Alwin Basri who also serves as Chairman of Commission D of the Central Java Provincial DPRD; Martono who is the Chairman of the Association of Indonesian National Construction Implementers (Gappensi) Semarang City; and Rachmat Djangkar who is a private party.

Of this number, only two people were present to fulfill the investigators' summons, namely Martono and Rachmat. Both are still undergoing examination at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

Meanwhile, Alwi was also not present like his wife. He asked to be postponed because he was submitting a pretrial to the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

Previously reported, the KPK has started investigations into three alleged corruption crimes within the Semarang City Government. The details are the procurement of goods and services at the Semarang City Government in 2023-2024, the alleged extortion of civil servants related to incentives for collecting taxes and levies in the Semarang City area as well as the alleged receipt of gratuities in 2023-2024.

KPK investigators have also conducted searches in various locations, including in the cities of Semarang, Kudus, and Salatiga. From this forced effort, documents and cash worth Rp1 billion were found; 9,650 euros; as well as dozens of watch units suspected of being linked to this case.
