Harmonization Of The Presidential Regulation Implementing The PDP Law, Komdigi Anticipates New Technology

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria said that the Ministry of Communication and Trade is currently harmonizing the derivative rules of Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning the Protection of Personal Data.

According to him, the preparation of this implementing regulation must be carried out carefully in order to be able to answer all the challenges of cybersecurity and new technology in Indonesia.

"Again, harmonization of several articles. There are 216 articles if I'm not mistaken. And in the Presidential Regulation there are several important additions, especially those that include cyber security and also emerging technology (new technology)," explained Nezar in his official broadcast.

Nezar also said that this Presidential Regulation would later become an important basis for strengthening the protection of personal data, especially in fast-growing sectors such as fintech.

The Ministry of Communication and Industry also continues to provide education and public awareness in collaboration with other government institutions, private companies, startups, academics, and the community, to accelerate the implementation of the PDP Law.

"This regulation will provide clear guidelines for organizations, business actors, the community in applying the principles that have been regulated," he said further.

In addition, the Ministry of Communication and Industry has also prepared the development of human resource competencies in the field of personal data protection such as PDP Level Up workshops, and so on.

Not to forget, Nezar also appreciated the role of the Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH) in socializing personal data protection guidelines.

The Deputy Minister of Communication and Trade also invited all parties to make personal data protection the foundation of Indonesia's digital future.
