Google Partners with Associated Press, Gemini Now Gets Real-Time News Access

JAKARTA - Google continues to expand its collaboration with the Associated Press (AP) to provide real-time information on the Gemini application. This step strengthens the long-standing partnership between Google and AP, which previously focused on providing the latest information for Google's search engine.

In a post on its official blog, Google announced that the Gemini application will now be able to refer to AP news to provide the latest information to its users. "This feature will be very helpful for [Gemini application] users who need the latest information," wrote Google.

Kristin Heitmann, Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer of the Associated Press, expressed her satisfaction with this collaboration.

"The long-term partnership between AP and Google is based on a joint effort to provide accurate and timely news and information to a global audience. We are pleased that Google recognizes the value of AP journalism and our commitment to nonpartisan reporting in the development of its generative AI products," said Heitmann, quoted by VOI from Reuters.

Google added that AP is not the only news organization they are working with. For more than two decades, Google has partnered with various news organizations from various countries around the world, both large and small.

This step not only adds value to the Gemini application but also shows Google's commitment to integrating trusted news into AI-based technology to meet the information needs of its users.
