Pieter Huistra Fired Borneo FC
The puzzle about Pieter Huistra's absence when Borneo FC faced Semen Padang in the 18th week of Liga 1 2024/2025 was finally answered. The coach apparently has been fired by the club from his post.
In the match which took place on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Pieter Huistra did not accompany Borneo FC who was hit by a 1-3 comeback from Semen Padang. Pesut Etam at that time was accompanied by assistant coach Demerson Bruno Costa.
Two days after the defeat to Kabau Sirah, Borneo FC officially announced that they had kicked Pieter Huistra out of the coaching position.
"Thank you, coach. Borneo FC Samarinda and Pieter Huistra agreed to end the cooperation," Borneo FC wrote in an Instagram post quoted Thursday, January 16, 2025.
The dismissal came after Stefano Lilipaly and his friends lost four consecutive defeats in all competitions, or three consecutive defeats with Huistra.
"This is based on the results of the evaluation of the series of results received by the club nicknamed Pesut Etam in the last few matches," Borneo FC wrote on the official website.

"As long as he investigates Pesut Etam, Pieter Huistra has led 72 matches in all competitions. He won 38 wins, 15 draws, and 19 defeats."
"The club really appreciates this achievement. This decision was agreed upon by both parties on the basis of professionalism and the common view that the interests of the team are above all else," wrote the follow-up statement.
Borneo FC's series of poor results with Huistra began when he lost 1-2 to Persebaya Surabaya. Then humiliated 0-4 by Persik Kediri at home.
For the second time in a row, Borneo FC lost 0-4 to Buriram United at the ASEAN Club Championship. After losing to Buriram, Pieter Huistra disappeared from the line-up, Borneo FC lost 1-3 to Semen Padang.
After expelling Huistra, Borneo FC also announced that the club would soon look for a new coach to escort the team even better.
"Borneo FC Samarinda immediately moved quickly to find a replacement for this Dutch coach and will soon be announced who is the coach of Pesut Etam for the remainder of the season," the statement concluded.
