BMKG: Rain With Various Potential Intensities Occurs In Big Cities Today
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most major cities in Indonesia will experience rain with varying intensity on Thursday, January 16.
BMKG forecaster, Sentia Arianti, said that rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in Bengkulu, Pangkal Pinang, and Padang, while moderate rain has the potential to flush the Bandar Lampung area.
"In other areas of Sumatra, light rain is predicted to occur in Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi, and Palembang," said Sentia.
For Java Island, cloudy weather is estimated in Surabaya, while light rain is likely to occur in Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Yogyakarta.
In the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, BMKG warned of the potential for thunderstorms in Kupang, as well as light rain in Denpasar and Mataram.
Meanwhile, in Kalimantan, moderate intensity rain is predicted to fall in Tanjung Selor, and light rain has the potential to occur in Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin, and Samarinda.
For the Sulawesi region, thunderstorms are expected to hit Mamuju, with the potential for light rain in Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Makassar, and Kendari.
In eastern Indonesia, thunderstorms have the potential to occur in Merauke, while light rain is estimated in Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayawijaya, and Jayapura.

In addition, BMKG also warned of the potential for tidal flooding in several coastal areas, including Riau Islands, Jambi, Bangka Belitung Islands, Banten, Jakarta, Central Java, West Nusa Tenggara, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Maluku and North Maluku.
