Not Only Sealed, President Prabowo Orders Sea Fences In Tangerang To Be Revoked
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto gave strict orders regarding the polemic of the mysterious sea fence on the north coast of Tangerang Beach, Banten. Secretary General of the Gerindra Party and Chairman of the MPR Ahmad Muzani said that Prabowo ordered the fence to be sealed, revoked, and thoroughly investigated, including the party responsible.
"He agreed, the sea fence was first sealed, then revoked, and investigated who was responsible," said Muzani at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 15.
Muzani did not comment further on the possible connection between the sea fence and the Pantai Indah Kapuk National Strategic Project (PSN PIK 2). "I don't have that knowledge. I am the chairman of the MPR," he said.
Previously, Deputy for Regional Development and Spatial Planning Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Wahyu Utomo emphasized that the sea fence in Tangerang Regency was not part of a national strategic project (PSN).
"I emphasize that this sea fence is not part of PSN," Wahyu said while inspecting the location in Kronjo District, Tangerang Regency.
Wahyu explained that the location of the sea fence installation is still a protected forest area, which should not be used without official permission. "The status of the protected forest area cannot be done anything. The process must go through environmental impact studies and approval from the Ministry of Forestry," he explained.

Wahyu also added that no developer has applied for a permit related to the sea fence. "If the Ministry of Forestry agrees, then the spatial planning is regulated through the Recommendation for the Adjustment of Spatial Utilization Activities (RKKPR) issued by the Ministry of ATR/BPN," he explained.
A firm order from Prabowo shows the government's commitment to preserving the environment and ensures that every development follows the applicable legal rules. The polemic of the sea fence in Tangerang is also a public concern regarding the management of coastal areas in Indonesia.
