BMW M Breaks Sales Record 2024, M2 Is The Best Selling

JAKARTA - German automotive manufacturer BMW Group has reported 2,450,804 global sales for 2024, down 4 percent compared to the previous year.

Of these, sales of high-performance cars from the BMW M division reached 206,582 units as well as signaling a benchmark after surpassing the sale of 200,000 units for the first time in history.

In addition, in 2024, almost every ten vehicles sold were cars from the BMW M division by contributing 9.4 percent share. This is also a new record high for the sub-brand.

Head of Customer, BMW M GmbH Brand and Sales, Sylvia Neubauer said this achievement was not only thanks to the increasing demand for gasoline engines, but also to high-performance pure electricity around the world.

"The high demand for gasoline and electric-powered models shows that our technological neutral strategy has also paid off in the high performance and performance segments, thus encouraging us to record results," Neubauer said, quoted from the official BMW Group website, Wednesday, January 15.

The model with the largest growth fell to BMW M2. The entry-level sporty sedan received an increase of 64 percent compared to the previous year.

This achievement was followed by M3 Touring up to 57 percent compared to the previous year. Then the super SUV model, BMW XM, obtained impressive results by recording an increase in sales of 16 percent.

Meanwhile, i4 M50 is listed as the best-selling model for the third time in a row. Of course this is a good result considering the model will potentially be replaced by the M4 version of pure electricity in the future.

For 2025, BMW M will expand its market by presenting a model consisting of ICE, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, to pure EV. This coupled with the sub-brand is working on developing a pure electric version of M3 to be marketed towards the end of the decade.
