Volkswagen Sells 4.8 Million Vehicle Units During 2024, Requests For Global SUVs Rise
JAKARTA - Volkswagen AG has reported its global sales of around 4.8 million units during 2024, down 1.4 percent compared to the previous year.
Volkswagen's Expenditures, Marketing and Purnajual Council member, Martin Sander said the achievement was made thanks to attractive product demand and consumer confidence in his car lineup despite the worldwide uncertainty.
Around the world, 2024 is a difficult year with sluggish economic activity, political challenges, and intense competition especially in China. However, we started the new year with optimism," Sander was quoted as saying on the brand's official website, Tuesday, January 14.
Volkswagen's Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) model, namely ID. has sold more than 1.35 million units worldwide throughout 2024, including about 500,000 ID.3 model units which are the best-selling. Thus, this brings the brand to the top of the BEV market in Germany.
China's territory is the largest market from VW by contributing 2,198,900 units (down 8.3 percent), followed by Europe by contributing 1,254,500 units, down 1.7 percent compared to the previous year, and followed by 592,300 units (up 18.4 percent).
Meanwhile, South America became another largest market by contributing up to 479,400 units, an increase of 21.1 percent compared to the previous year.
