Honda Plans To Return To Small Electric Car Market, Here's The Strategy

JAKARTA - Honda had stolen attention with the presence of a tiny, iconic electric car, Honda e, which is marketed in various countries such as Japan and Europe. Despite carrying a unique futuristic retro design and equipped with advanced technology, unfortunately Honda e had to stop being produced since early 2024 due to low sales.

Reporting from Top Gear PH, Tuesday, January 14, since his debut in 2020, Honda has not yet had an official successor, although Honda has introduced a model e:NY1. However, Honda hints that there are plans to present a replacement for Honda e in the future.

"We understand that small electric car markets are growing rapidly. Until now, we plan to work on this segment independently of series 0," said representatives of the Honda Electrification Business Development Operations at the CES 2025 event.

However, Honda seems still reluctant to talk much about the details of the development of Honda's next generation.

"We are thinking about it and considering it, but it is too early to confirm anything. At this time there is nothing concrete that we can convey," he added.

Honda also ensures that they are taking advantage of opportunities from the fast-growing electric vehicle market. As part of its commitment, Honda plans to launch seven Series 0 models globally by 2030, all of which will use the same platform.

Even though Honda has said goodbye, the hope of his successor's presence is still wide open. Honda's strategy to remain relevant in this small electric car market is one of the most anticipated steps, given their track record in creating innovative and character vehicles.
