Interesting Generation Cross Duet, Slamet Rahardjo And Reza Rahadian Unite In The Performance Of The Dag Dig Dug Theater
JAKARTA - Starting in 2025, the Popular Theater, which was a theater group founded in 1968 by Teguh Karya, will feature the performance of the DIG DUG DAG play. This play written by Putu Wijaya will be directed by Slamet Rahardjo, and held for two days, namely on Saturday, January 25 and Sunday, January 26 starting at 19.00 WIB at the Salihara Theater, Jakarta.
In addition to featuring Slamet Rahardjo, the DIG DUG DAG play will also feature several well-known actors such as Reza Rahadian, Niniek L Karim, Donny Damara, Kiki Narendra, and Jose Rizal. The names Paquita Widjaja and Samuel Wattimena are also present as producers, assisted by Taba Sancabakhtiar as Co Producer.
Set in Yogyakarta, Central Java, DIG DUG's DAG play tells the story of a student named Chaerul Umam who has broad knowledge, intelligent, humble, charismatic, and leaders of student movements who suddenly become widespread talks because they died suddenly in a hit-and-run case. The traffic accident experienced by Chaerul Umam was suspected of being a planned accident. The suspicion is based on irregularities from the reason for his death.
"DIG DUG's DAG plays are not just performances, but are a reflection of anxiety and hope that are packaged in narratives with clear causal causes. Each scene is designed with dimensions of space, time, and events that are closely related to bring the whole story to life. at the Popular Theater, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Monday, January 13, the actors who attended the rehearsal ahead of the performance looked serious in exploring the characters they were going to play. Especially for Reza Rahadian, Donny Damara, and Kiki Narendra, who are the first to participate in the DIG DUG DAG play.
Because for the Popular Theater, the performance of the DIG DUG DAG play this time is the second time they have performed it, after being first performed in 1977 at Taman Ismail Marzuki Jakarta, played by Slamet Rahardjo, Niniek L Karim, Tuti Indra Malaon, and Sutopo HS.
DIG DIG DAG PLAY will be the first performance of the Popular Theater in 2025 in collaboration with the AP Production and Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation. Renitasari Adrian as the Djarum Foundation's Culture Bakti Director Program said that the Popular Theater was one of the important milestones in the history of performing arts in Indonesia. Since its establishment in 57 years ago, this group has always presented works that are not only entertaining, but also inspire the thoughts and feelings of the audience.

The Popular Theater is one of the oldest theater groups in Indonesia that has been established since 1968. The group founded by Teguh Karya, is now being continued by Slamet Raharjo, which has produced hundreds of shows, gave birth to many stars, and became a theater icon in Indonesia.
