Apple Is Testing New Health Sensors On Wireless Earbuds
JAKARTA - The launch of iOS 18 RC on Monday, January 13, is new evidence confirming that Apple is testing new health sensors on its wireless earbuds. The code in this update supports rumors that the latest generation of AirPods Pro, which will launch next year, will have advanced health sensors.
Apple is reportedly developing various health features for the next generation AirPods Pro, which is expected to be announced in 2025. Information found in iOS 18.0 RC reinforces this speculation.
The latest beta code mentions a new wireless earbud with a heart rate sensor. "Preken both earbuds during training to track and send your heart rate to Apple Health. Manage in Bluetooth settings," reads the string in the system. These strings are part of the system's components that set Apple's wireless headphones settings, such as AirPods and Beats.
The same source, who previously leaked accurate information about the iPhone 16 and Apple Watch Series 10, also provided more information about this new technology.
AirPods Pro 3 will not be the only earbuds with a heart rate sensor. Apple also plans to add similar sensors to the latest generation of Powerbeats Pro, which is specifically designed for sports activities.
Apple is planning to launch Powerbeats Pro 2 in 2025. Based on the first leaked image, the device will come up with a new design, although additional details such as a health sensor have not been fully confirmed. However, there is a high possibility that a heart rate measurement feature will be included. To maintain privacy, users can choose to disable this feature.

At Apple's previous "It's Glowtime" event, Apple introduced AirPods 4 with two versions, one of which has an active noise damping feature. However, an update for the AirPods Pro is expected to only arrive in 2025.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, AirPods Pro 3 will have a new design and chip that supports health features.
It remains unclear whether Apple will launch Powerbeats Pro 2 with health features before AirPods Pro 3, or if both will be announced simultaneously next year.
Apple continues to show its innovation in wearable technology, and this move is expected to strengthen its position in the smart health device market.
